Leland Byrd
Cello, Upright Bass, Violin, Viola

Leland Byrd, aka "Bird", is a multi-instrumentalist and Orchestra Director.  He was the Head Orchestra director at Scoggins Middle School in Frisco Texas for 7 years.  Before becoming a director, he was a freelance upright and electric bass player in the Dallas Fort Worth Area.  Bird specializes in Jazz and improvisation, but received many years of orchestral training.  He has taught music for over 18 years, and has been a featured soloist with the Meadows Symphony, Dallas Wind Symphony, percussion ensembles, and other groups around the DFW area.  
 

Bird has his Master's in Music from Southern Methodist University, and has taught over 1000 beginner players of all ages.  During Bird's music career, he has learned many different genre's of music including World Music, Electronica, Country, Bluegrass, Pop, Gospel, Jazz, Classical, Latin, and Fusion.  These days, Bird is very involved in Live Loop making and electronic percussion, while adding instrumentals on top of the mix.  

 

Bird enjoys music production with Ableton, and DJing with Serato.  He makes a lot of his own remixes and original music and playing Violin, Viola, Cello, Upright Bass, and Electric Bass over his recordings and arrangements.  Check him out on Spotify or other streaming platforms as "ByrdBass".
