Renee Kaplowitz
Piano, Voice - North and South (In person), Online
Renee Kaplowitz holds a BA in Music and has studied at the University of Arkansas and North Texas State University. She performs in several genres including Classical Jazz, Musical Theater, Rhythm and Blues, and Gospel. Renee has had the honor of playing with such luminaries as Pharoah Sanders and David 'Fathead' Newman.
Renee has been teaching music and voice for more than 15 years in a variety of settings. She has taught "Infant and Mommy" and "Infant and Daddy" classes. She has experience teaching beginning piano lessons and voice instruction to students as young as 3 months old -- and seniors in their 80's. When meeting a new student for the first session, Renee asks questions about their likes, interests and experience to determine the best method for teaching that student. She emphasizes music theory in teaching both voice and piano, so students are enabled to teach themselves. And she emphasizes fun because, after all, WE'RE MAKING MUSIC!
As a member of the National, State and Austin District Music Teachers' Associations, Renee provides students with several opportunities each year to perform in festivals and competitions. Her students regularly score at the highest levels in these events. The highlight of the year for Renee's students is the last of 4 yearly recitals -- the Rock Recital at which students play popular tunes at a local venue backed by a rhythm section of professional musicians.
