J. B. Mendez
Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Mandolin, Banjo - North (In person), Online
J. B. Mendez has played the guitar for over 30 years. He is now a teacher as much as he is a student! In addition to guitar, John also gives mandolin and ukulele lessons. Coming from a musical family, there was always some song or melody being played at home. At first Mendez' main focus was on art, working on drawings and paintings and not realizing he was practicing his creativity -- which would help tremendously later on.
Given a guitar in his late teens, John became obsessed with the instrument. After a few years he decided to go on to college and study classical guitar and music theory to advance his knowledge, skill and playing techniques.
Mendez has completed many original albums and writes and performs in 4 very diverse bands. He explains his love for guitars and teaching: “It’s hard to believe that there are so many diverse genres - everything from Classical to Metal, Jazz to Blues and all these use the same 6 strings on a piece of wood!”
