A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in music business and a focus on jazz bass, Devin North is one of Austin’s premier bass players. Picking up upright and electric bass at age 11, he has performed across genres—from rock, jazz, and country to classical, theater, and heavy metal—appearing with acts such as Arielle, the Austin Symphony, Matt Gilmour, the Rewinders, Dave Sebree, and the Aaron Clift Experiment. He performs over 150 shows annually.

Devin has been part of the Austin School of Music community for years—first as a student, then as an administrative assistant, and now as a private instructor. Having grown up in the same programs he now teaches, he takes pride in giving back and inspiring new generations of musicians.

Specializing in classic rock, Motown, blues, jazz, traditional country, and music theory, Devin’s lessons emphasize fun, understanding, and empowerment. He believes it’s never too late to rediscover music. Devin lives in Austin, where he performs, teaches, records, and tours internationally with folk-rock artist Arielle.
