Dan Torosian
Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute, trumpet - South (in person) & Online
Dan Torosian was born in New York in 1958 and learned piano and trumpet starting in elementary school. While living in Boston in the 80s he switched to saxophone and began playing in R&B bands and doing studio work. Since moving to Austin in 1990 he has played with Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes, The Atlantics, Marcia Ball, Alejandro Escovedo, Nick Curran, Ted Roddy, Johnny Nicholas, and Monster Big Band (also writer/arranger), and has played many shows at ZACH Theater. He currently plays with the Austin Symphony and The Copa Kings, and works extensively as a freelance player, arranger, composer, and teacher.
Dan has a Bachelor's Degree in Biochemistry from Harvard and a Masters Degree in Music Composition from Southwest Texas State. He has done studio and performance work on all the saxophones, clarinet, bass clarinet, flute, piccolo and keyboards. He taught at St. Edward's University for many years and still teaches lessons and master classes at St. Stephen's Episcopal School.
