Originally from Ft.Worth John Branch began playing guitar at the age of 10 and was playing locally within a few years. John graduated from Southwestern University where he majored in classical guitar performance. During those college years, he attended a summer session at the Berklee School of Music, and had guitar lessons in Austin with guitar guru Clay Moore, to study the finer points of Jazz. After a stint at the University of Texas at Austin and time abroad in Madrid pursuing additional classical studies, John began playing around the Austin area with musicians including Ghandaia, Brent Palmer, and Grupo Fantasma.
Along with his guitar playing duties, he began teaching during his college years and has continued his busy guitar teaching and performance schedule with several groups such as Hard Proof, Spanish Gold, and Golden Dawn Archestra. Always striving to inspire and educate, John plans his teaching sessions to incorporate music fundamentals with more engaging material. Students are encouraged to bring in their favorite music, so their private instrution can be tailored to suit student tastes, while also teaching essential music basics that help students become well-rounded musicians.
