David Orr
Guitar - South (in person), Online
Australian Guitarist David Orr is a dedicated and critically acclaimed career musician
with over 20 years’ experience in all facets of the music industry.
As an educator and mentor, David has helped students of all ages reach their
personal musical goals. Whether it be electric blues, rock, pop, jazz, song writing,
recording or playing in a band, David is passionate about teaching and sharing his
knowledge of what it is to be a well rounded musician. Before moving from Australia
in 2020, David was a key part of a leading high school “Rock Program” which helped
students write, record and release their own original music and perform their songs
at live concerts.
As a performer and songwriter, David’s breakthrough came with rock trio Numbers
Radio. The band’s ability to pen whip-smart pop rock tunes saw their track “Boring”
used on the American hit TV show “Shameless”. David also loves studio production, recently recording guitar for the music of Australian television production Bluey which won “Best Children’s Album” in the 2021 ARIAs (Australian Recording Industry Awards).
As a session guitar player, David has toured Europe and North America with theatre
productions such as “The Ten Tenors” and his own group “Dave Orr Band”. The demanding role of a theatre show musician (covering many different styles) helped shape David into an extremely versatile guitar player with a wide palette of inspiration to draw from.
In his heart, David has always had a deep appreciation of the great blues and jazz of the past and present. He has relished years of late nights playing dive bars with his
beat up Gibson during his years studying Jazz at Australia’s leading music conservatoriums (JMI and Griffith). David is now based in Austin, Texas “Live music capital of the world” a city thriving with artists and world class musicians to collaborate with.
