Locations -- Austin School of Music North
Brian teaches string bass and violin lessons in North Austin. He started his teaching career 17 years ago after earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education with an emphasis on string instruments from Eastern Illinois University. After graduating summa cum laude he began his 5-year stint in the public school system. He directed grade school and high school orchestra programs in Champaign, Chicago and St. Louis overseeing students from 4th grade through high school. During this time, he became proficient in many musical styles by performing regularly with small groups and orchestras. Once moving to Austin, he quickly started to build his private studio and immerse himself in the local music scene.
Brian welcomes students of all ages and ability levels. His private student base consists of folks from ages 6 through 60, beginning to advanced. He focuses on the orchestral strings, violin, viola, cello and string bass, in addition to electric bass and guitar. Lesson plans are based on each student’s interests, needs and playing level. During the summer, he also directs the Opening Acts of Rock Camp U.S.A. When Brian is not working with students, he is usually out performing with artists such as Jolie Goodnight, Oliver Rajamani, Cade Baccus, Paul Klemperer and his original bands All She Wrote and Noltey.
