SONGWRITING CLASS
Have you always wanted to write songs but didn't know where to start? Does it seem too intimidating, or seem like something that only 'other people' do? Well it doesn't have to be. There are many reasons why people write songs. To sing to their children, to tell life stories, family stories, or day to day stories, to express great joy or pain, to paint a picture, to describe a place. Song is a very ancient form of communication. Through song, stories are passed down through generations and across the globe.
We'll explore all the basics of songwriting including lyric writing, melody, song structure and subject matter, and yes, you will be writing songs in this class! We'll do basic recordings of the songs as part of the class. Small groups. Gentle supportive environment. If you play an instrument, that's great, but it's not necessary. Many songs are written with only the voice.
